Today is a great day!

So… I hopped on my scale this morning (I was going to wait till tomorrow for my weekly weigh in but caved) and I weighed myself. 168 lbs! That is wonderful because

a) getting out of the 170’s was huge for me. Last time I dedicated myself to losing weight, I was 165 and within 5 months I weighed 140lbs. So I know at this weight I can do that again!

b)Weighing 168 lbs means that I have offically lost 50 pounds of baby weight! I never thought I could lose this weight this soon.

I am now really focusing on reaching my mini-goal of 160.  I really want to start adding more weights and begin really toning along with the weight loss. Hopefully I can reach 160 by middle/end of July.

Need to think positively…

So today has NOT been a good day food wise. Since I am going back to work in a couple of weeks from my maternity leave, I need to try to increase my breastmilk supply so I can store some away for the person that is watching my baby. I did what was called a “Nursing Holiday”- basically, you stay in bed all day and pump very frequently, fooling your body into producing more milk. Now generally, this is fun. I got to relax, read a book, and just spend time with my 8 week old son, which is terrific. However, I was famished today, so I ate an english muffin, two chocolate chip granola bars, a turkey sandwhich and chips and then chicken for dinner. Then my husband comes home and he brought home Cheese Doodles and Reese’s Peices. Now, the reese’s peices I only had several of, but I finished off the Cheese Doodles bag! I told him he can never buy those again…. sigh… so much for warching what I eat today. Oh well, I think I will put my son in his swing and then work out for an hour or so tonight to try to undo the damage I did this afternoon. I wasn’t going to, it was going to be my day off from working out, but I think I really need to make an exception. Tomorrow is another day, right??

weigh in today…

lost 3 lbs! Woo Hoo! I think this week was sucessful because I added in more cardio and weight lifting to my workout. It was beautiful weather in New England, so I was in my pool to add some additional workouts. I am now proud to say I am in a size 14 as well.

I am very happy with the progress and I did all my goals last week including going for a hike. My goals this week:

Continue the cardio. On Treadmill, start adding a little running to the walking I am currently doing

Go for another hike for a couple of hours

Eat Healthier and drink a lot of water!

Tough week…

Well, I still weigh 174. I was sick most of the week, so the first time I got to really do any working out all week was yesterday, and that was not for very long! I should not be so disapointed because I lost so much weight so quickly at 6 weeks postpartum, my weight loss was bound to slow down.

Today, it is 90 degrees, so I am finally going to hop in the pool and do a workout there and I am also going to try for another workout on the treadmill. I want to keep working out fun and interesting, so I think I will also try to convince my husband to do a little hike this weekend to just do something different.

Also, I think part of my downfall is what I ate this week. The past 6 weeks postpartum I was eating really healthy, but last week I made some bad decisions in terms of the foods I ate.  I ate Mcdonalds (although I do pride myself on only getting a cheeseburger and small fry- which I did not finish), went to a Red Sox’s game and ate a Fenway Frank and some Ice Cream (agian, it was 90 degrees).  I wasn’t too bad, but there was room for improvement certainly.

This weeks goal:

Get back on track with eating healthier foods

Work out in the pool 4x this week and supplement with 4 treadmill sessions with weights

Need to lose the baby weight…

Well, the title pretty much says it all. Before I got pregnant last August, I was 149. I was happy with the weight, would have liked to lose maybe about 10 lbs at that point, but overall, happy. Then I got pregnant. My last weigh in before I had my wonderful son, Harry, I weighed a whopping 218 lbs. I had gained 69lbs! I was horrified and felt awful!

When Harry was born, I was thrilled! He was perfect and worth every pound I gained. But now I am ready to get fit again and work off all the weight. Right after Harry was born, I changed my diet and after 4 1/2 weeks, I started incorporating exercise. I was so out of shape that going up a flight of stairs was a challenge. I never had that before.  So, I am going to post my stats for everyone to see and hopefully keep me accountable. Luckily at 5 1/2 weeks post partum, I have lost 44lbs which I never thought was possible so I feel confident that I can lose this weight!

Highest Weight: 218
